Practice Gratitude

March 17, 2025

Is there scarcity or abundance in the world? Are we lacking in what we want or do we have more than what we need? How you attend to the world will be what you see. Your left hemisphere is always wanting More. It’s been designed to acquire more stuff for you. It wants to control things and is wired to be selfish, competitive, and is never satisfied. When properly directed, your left hemisphere can achieve great success for you, but needs to be balanced by the right hemisphere’s ability to anticipate consequences for excess. A powerful way to strengthen the right hemisphere is to foster gratitude. Every time you feel entitled, angry for not getting what you want, upset you didn’t get your share, feel anxious because you perceive scarcity, you can expect you are stuck in your left hemisphere.

Practice gratitude as often as you can. Remind yourself what you can be thankful for. Many people report that if they write down a list, it helps them to intensify that feeling. You switch to the emotions of appreciation, humility, and gratefulness. You sincerely offer thanks to people, events, nature, and God. You have received blessings and grace from God. Focus on your abundance and good fortune. Make a conscious effort to move your attention to this feeling of gratitude and you will have shifted your consciousness to your right hemisphere.

The more often you practice this, the deeper and broader you will engage your right hemisphere. Your right hemisphere obtains permission to balance the power of your left. Your goal, as always, is to have your right hemisphere be the master and your left hemisphere your emissary.

“The struggle ends when gratitude begins.” Neale Donald Walsh.
