What technology do you use in your practice?
What is Neurobehavioral Conditioning?
It is the practice of helping the body and brain learn to become more efficient through the use of biofeedback, neurofeedback, and other devices that use operant or classical conditioning. This type of intervention is very different than talk therapy, but can be used successfully as an adjunct.
Does insurance cover neurobehavioral conditioning?
No. While insurance companies several years ago did cover neurofeedback and biofeedback, they have changed their position and many no longer offer it as part of their benefits.
Do you still practice talk therapy?
Yes. Some people come to see me because 100% of their problem is psychological and they respond very well to talk therapy. My approach is quite varied and I customize what I do depending on the nature of the presenting problem. Since I have received extensive training in a variety of modalities, I might use EMDR, Dual-Brain Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, or simply Supportive Therapy to achieve results. Some clients, however, have already tried talk therapy and medications with minimal or no results. This may be due to a brain imbalance that can be better remediated with neurofeedback. I have the capacity to conduct brain mapping and show a person whether a brain imbalance might be associated with their condition.
What type of brain mapping do you use?
Currently, I use the ClinicalQ that was developed by Paul Swingle, PhD. He developed this to allow a clinician to gather data in one session and give feedback to a client about possible brain imbalances. His brain mapping is well researched and is sponsored by one of the world's leading manufacturers of neurofeedback. For complicated cases I use the QEEG, which measures 19 sites instead of 5 of the Swingle map.
What is deep states training, also known as Alpha-Theta Training?
This is a method that I have been using since 1991 initially for alcoholism, and later for resolving deep psychological issues. An article on this is found at
Why do you offer the Alpha-Stim M?
The Alpha Stim M has consistently been helpful for 75% of my clients who have depression, anxiety, or insomnia. Its something that can be used daily in the comfort of your home. Its relaxing and very easy to use.
What about nutritional supplements? Do you recommend them?
On occasion, I recommend nutritional supplements for brain support. Currently I use products from Douglas Labs.
